Legal Video and Court Reporting Services in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia
Frequently Asked Questions

1. What advantages can Legal Video Abroad offer U.S. attorneys arranging depositions internationally?

By dispatching experienced videographers and court reporters from European cities close to international deposition sites, Legal Video Abroad saves U.S. attorneys the expense of flying in their own crews from the United States. Legal Video Abroad is a service of BusinessFilm Productions, a trusted U.S.-based company, and uses American videographers and technicians based in Europe. This means that U.S. attorneys feel right at home with us. We also accept payment directly in U.S. dollars, which eliminates any hassles with foreign exchanges or international transfers.

2. Does Legal Video Abroad provide court reporters as well as videographers?

We certainly do -- Legal Video Abroad provides certified, English-speaking court reporters and legal videographers. We can often arrange for legal interpreters as well, depending on the spoken language of your witness or deponent.

3. What tape format do you use to shoot depositions?

We normally shoot depositions in DV, on 3-chip cameras in the NTSC (American) format. Other formats are, of course, available, including BetaSP and Digital Beta (NTSC or PAL), according to each client's preference.

4. What is included in a legal video team?

Depending on the region and requirements, our video teams typically include one or two experienced technicians: an English-fluent videographer and (optionally) a sound engineer, as well as all necessary camera and sound gear. Legal Video Abroad can assemble custom video teams, as well as multi-camera video teams depending on your specific needs.

5. What is your cancellation policy?

If a shoot is cancelled more than 5 business days prior to the reserved dates, the cancellation fee is 50% on the project as bid; if the shoot is cancelled 1-5 days prior to the shoot, the cancellation fee is 100% on the project as bid. That said, we value our clients and try to be as flexible as possible regarding postponements and schedule changes. If a schedule change takes place for reasons outside of your control, we can often waive all or part of the cancellation penalties.

6. It appears that your main offices are located in Paris. Are there extra charges for depositions taking place outside Paris?

In many European cities, Legal Video Abroad has videographers and court reporters available on location -- which means that you won't be billed for additional charges should your city be covered. Should your city not happen to be covered, or should your deposition be outside of Europe, we can dispatch videographers to your deposition site from the closest covered city. In such cases, food, travel, hotel, and per-diem expenses may apply. Even given these additional costs, our clients find that it's cheaper and easier to go with Legal Video Abroad than to fly in inexperienced videographers all the way from the States.

7. What is the required advance notice for booking?

We try to accommodate our clients in almost any circumstance. Normally, 1-2 weeks advance notice is appreciated, but we won't turn down last-minute clients if we have the gear and technicians available for their dates.

8. I work for a legal video referral service. Can Legal Video Abroad accommodate its services to meet my company's unique needs?

If your company is a referral service that subcontracts court reporters and/or legal videographers, get in touch with us today! We can arrange service options that fit your company's unique needs. For us at Legal Video Abroad, satisfying each and every one of our clients is our number one priority.
